WRITTEN JUNE 14TH

Wednesday started by stripping everything off engine again First the Intercooler and then all the hoses and then the manifold (which eventually came off the still attached invisible hoses we could not see) Luckily they didn't snap they came off intact. And all off in about an hour!!!
I sat on the grass and chilled in the sun whilst Jamie started sanding down the manifold

I realize this was not much help or productive so got off my arse and took over the sanding and sat on the floor (again) and started scrubbing/sanding.
(Whilst i did this Jamie cracked on with the intercooler)
I first used Sandpaper 60grit for about an hour then I used 80grit also for an hour then I had to have a break cos my old hands were fecked lol.
Then I tried to use a wire brush (on a drill) on the hard to get to bits, but it was pointless.
Started again with the sand paper went over with 80 again to get rid of where the wire brush had just polished on the dirt lol.
Then up to 250grit then 400 then got the thing on the polish wheel (handed over to jamie at this point as I just dont have the skill haha) This took about 5 hours in total of hard work and lots of sanding.
Got everything back together with addition of a few blue hoses and a proper filter and bracket so now i am nearly 100% happy

managed to turn the engine from this

to this

Thursday didn't really go too well i took my front left caliper off and after many hours of messing around and breaking two G clamps (to bits from the pressure) and getting yet more cuts on my fingers,
I decided it was meant to be seized so put it back on and ignoreing from now till i get a new one......

Friday started really well after sanding down the arches and applying rust eater last night all i needed to do today was sand down the ectoplasm green goo (which was a strange yellow now) and then prep for painting.
I got really stuck into the sanding down the sun was really hot and making it a dream to work in, no wind made me have a few sneezing fits as the dust seemed attracted to my nose.
I then masked off just a single strip around each arch and started to paint hmmmmmmm it would appear there was a slight breeze my car become covered (with light spray).
I didn't notice it too much till i had finished and driven over to see Jamie (JSP) and he had a good chuckle at me. Apparently when you spray a car you should cover up the the bits you not painting ie the rest of the car lol.

Any way i came home thinking never mind i have given my self more work to get car cleaned up but at least the arches are looking far better than they did.
These pics dont really show how much rust there was as these were taking about 7 weeks ago. Since then the arches became pretty much just rust and were an eye sore any way moving on.

From this > >

I may have made a few mistakes like painting the alloys painting the inside plastic trim painting the window so i have just been informed by my worst critic and also got on her really clean roof............................oh and the slabs ooops.
But hey ho never mind we can but learn from these things
(I've learnt to just save up and let a garage do it in future)

I also bought more paint to do the cream boot .........

I sanded it down and got my fingers cracked and ready to spray again all was going well, a really nice even coat. I was really giddy that i had done a good job then a great big sheeping bee landed on the top left corner its was stuck fast i tried to ease it off but it struggled and made more mess so i just grabbed the fecker and squashed him put him in the bin, I quickly re sprayed where he'd messed up...... fine looking good still apart from a wee run mark as too much paint ...
Then two flys landed in the lip of the boot one almost dead centre the other on the right hand side arrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh i quickly got the fly off the middle making minamal of mess then went to get bigger fly on the right that had crawled around as much as he could have i should have just kicked the boot it would be tidyer..........

I gave up and thought fair enough can sand it wit 1500 grit and all will be ok tomorrow hmmmm why i thought that i don't know it then preceeded to f 'ing rain so heres were i am at, stuck.
And i'm inside sulking am not playing this game any more

Saturday came !!!!!!!!!!!
One day till the show oh no> I have no boot on car is covered in oily finger prints the rain has destroyed the paint work on nearly all panels aarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh panic stations Robs gunna blow>>>>>>>>>>

I did get up at 8 the 4th day on trot of early starts so much for holidays.

Sanded down all areas that had become aired up with the rain this took about 2 hours. Julia got up and came to give me a hand we went to get everything we needed for the show and more paint for the car. Whilst out cheated and went to hand wash place to cut down on time of us having to wash the car. Came home and Painted the sills again and the boot. Julia gutted inside and i polished the outside. time had gone it was 21:30 time to tidy up and pack the car.

We went to bed and got up for 6am to set off for the show at Errol.
And here is the pics of the car finished and at the show where it got lots and lots of comments (nice ones) and I was getting asked lots of questions about the car Brilliant day and almost felt it was all worth it (was probably too tired and stressed to enjoy at the time though)
